Delafield, WI—DiscoveryBound-Wisconsin is planning a hike and gratitude session at Lapham Peak State Park south of Delafield on Sunday, December 4 at 1:00 PM.
DB-Wisconsin co-leaders Ginger Mack and Ted Gast organized the event after a successful kickoff meeting in October intended to revitalize the Wisconsin DB chapter.
"We'll meet at the trailhead just inside the park entrance and hike up to the observation tower for a panoramic view of Southeast Wisconsin," said Gast. "DiscoveryBound events offer an opportunity to see Christian Science in action. Once we've gathered at the tower, Ginger will lead a gratitude session, and everyone will have a chance to share inspiration."
Lapham Peak's glaciated topography provides excellent hiking on trails that wind through wooded hills and open meadows. "Our hiking route is about 2 miles—round trip. Much of the trail is flat, but several hills along the trail are moderately steep," said Gast. Participants are encouraged to bring water and snacks if they would enjoy them. Those who do not wish to hike but would like to join the gratitude session at the observation tower can drive up to the tower and meet the hikers as they arrive.
After the hike, everyone is welcome to attend the Principia Club Christmas Sing at Cedar Ridge at 3:00 PM. Cedar Ridge is approximately 5 miles north and west of Lapham Peak.
All vehicles parked at Lapham Peak must have a Wisconsin state park admission sticker. The stickers are available at the contact booth near the park entrance. For more information about Lapham Peak, visit the Wisconsin DNR site.
If snow makes hiking difficult, participants can ski instead. (A state park trail pass is required to use the Lapham Peak cross-country ski trails.)
Everyone is welcome to participate. This event is for all ages, and family and friends of all faiths.
