leelanau kohahnaBrookfield, WI—Representatives from Christian Science camps Leelanau and Kohahna will present a camp show in Brookfield on January 6, 2012. Camp Directors Kathleen Moyer and Weldon Rutledge invite everyone to attend the meeting which will include a potluck supper and feature a video presentation of the northern-Michigan camps.

"The summer camp programs will be our focus at this show as we explain camp life, show our brand new video, and answer any questions about Camps Leelanau and Kohahna," said Rutledge. "All are welcome to attend the show. We have programs that include Family Camp and Harvest Weekend for Women, so you don't have to be between 6 and 17 to attend."

Rutledge has been a part of Camp Leelanau since 1987, and this marks his second summer as director of Camp Leelanau for Boys. Here's what Rutledge had to say about his experiences at Camp Leelanau:

"My mother sent me to camp because she felt that I would benefit from positive Christian Science male role models.  At the time I was attending Sunday School in East Lansing, MI with only my sister, and my grandmother as the teacher. I flourished at camp!  The positive spiritual environment encouraged me to take pride in my religion and really turn to it for healing.  The healthy camp activities developed my skills as an athlete and an outdoorsman. Those counselor role models helped mold and shape my character in ways that most other summer activities could not.  I was hooked and (as my mother can attest) spent the rest of the school year thinking about getting back to camp.  That was 25 or so years ago, and I haven't missed a summer here at Pyramid Point since that time."
