bible lesson cover 201201IDEAS FROM THIS WEEK'S CHRISTIAN SCIENCE BIBLE LESSON

The January 8, 2012 Christian Science Bible Lesson is Sacrament.

“Giving a cup of cold water in Christ's name, is a Christian service.”

Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (436:11-12)

  • It is not enough to know the Truth ourselves. Jesus expected his followers to share God’s message and heal others. “Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” (Mark 8:34)
  • Ceremonies and rituals do not make a person spiritual. Living a life of Truth and Love—following and demonstrating Jesus’ example—is breaking bread and drinking the cup of salvation.
  • Being pure in heart enables us to see the nature of God more clearly and therefore allows us to demonstrate health and happiness in our homes and bodies. Think of the ways you can demonstrate a pure heart: freedom from being judgemental, abstinence from greed or lust, humility, freedom from guilt, being quick to forgive, etc. Check out section 2.

Every day, Christian Scientists around the world read and study the weekly Christian Science Bible Lesson for inspiration and healing.  Each week's Bible Lesson consists of carefully selected passages from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy.  The same Bible Lesson is read at all Christian Science churches, and everyone is welcome to attend services.
