readers on mountain ted gastThe Lord’s Prayer says, “Give us this day our daily bread.” Mrs Eddy in her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, defines bread as Truth: "Our bread, 'which cometh down from heaven' is Truth," (p. 35) She also states on page 33 of the same book, "Their bread indeed came down from heaven.  It was the great truth of spiritual being, healing the sick and casting out error.  Their Master had explained it all before, and now this bread was feeding and sustaining them."

Dear folks, that "them" is us. The bread we ask God to give us this day, every day - morning, noon, and night - is the one and only Truth about us, about our neighbor, about our world, about our God. It is what sustains us, nourishes us, strengthens us. It is why we are alive. This bread is not given just on Sundays, or Sacrament Sunday; this bread is not found in the bakery at your local grocery store. This bread is delivered hourly. Even the crumbs heal. We can have a whole slice of Truth or just a bite. Big or small, the Truth about our spiritual being fills us up. There is never a shortage. However, we do have to pay the price for it. We must ask our Father/Mother to give us this bread. We must be willing to eat it up. We must share.

Please pass the bread.

I’m asking, Ann Blamey
