When I awake every morning, the first thing I do is repeat the Lord's Prayer. By doing this I re-establish in thought who is really in charge of my day. As a youngster in Sunday school, I was taught that this prayer would have the answers to everything that life would bring my way. I found it difficult to comprehend that those few lines, the Lord's Prayer, would be enough to take care of so an immense a subject as my life, much less, everyone's life. Through the years I've begun to see that it truly is enough and brings infinite blessings every day.
Over the holidays this year, there seemed to be a rift with one of our family members. She seemed crabby, cross, and just not nice to be around. One day she exploded in harsh words and slammed the door. At first I got caught up in this error and was very disturbed by her actions and words, but I decided to remain quiet and pray. After a couple off days there was no improvement; at least I could see none. I almost called her and apologized, although I didn't think I had done anything wrong. Instead of calling I decided to let God take care of this in His way. The third morning as I prayed the Lord's Prayer, I thought of how the answer truly is in this prayer. Why here it is: "forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors." This includes the inspired spiritual sense given to us by Mary Baker Eddy; “And the Love is reflected in Love." I could depend on this, period.
That very day, in a somewhat unconventional way, she asked me to forgive her. Of course I did! There it was again, that prayer that meets all human needs. I might add that since this incident, the relationship has much more love in it and respect for everyone involved.
Let's see the blessings this prayer is going to bring today!
